Requirements for creating a 3D model from point clouds

In order to be able to optimally and smoothly carry out our CAD drawing service to create a 3D model from point clouds, certain requirements must be met by the customer. These requirements ensure the high level of precision and attention to detail required for successful and efficient project execution.

point cloud data

To create a precise 3D model from point cloud data, we need high-quality point cloud data. The point clouds should contain easy-to-read information about the building and all relevant structures. Ideally, the point cloud data is delivered in .e57, .las, or a comparable format, which enables seamless integration into our software.

Good to know: The more detailed and complete the point cloud data is, the more precisely the 3D model can be created. Incomplete or blurred point clouds can cause delays and additional costs as the accuracy of the model is affected.

Information on modelling requirements

In order for us to be able to create the 3D model according to the exact requirements of the project, we need clear information about the modelling requirements. This includes:

  • Required building elements: Specify whether specific architectural details, such as interior walls, columns, ceilings, or roofs, should be presented in detail.
  • Level of detail (LOD): The level of detail (LOD) determines how detailed the model is worked out. By default, we work on LOD 200, but we can also consider more detailed requirements.
  • Specific requirements: Should the model be used for a specific technical analysis or application? This information helps us optimize the model for your specific use case.

Software compatibility and file format

Our models are standard in Revit and ArchiCAD created and in IFC format provided to ensure a high level of interoperability. If another format is preferred (e.g. DWG or a special ArchiCAD format), please let us know before starting the project.

Note: Using a different format can result in adjustments, which we calculate individually depending on the complexity.

Delivery date and schedule

To ensure timely delivery of the 3D model within 5 to 7 working days, we need clear information about your project schedule. Should there be any changes or delays, please let us know in advance to minimize possible effects on the delivery of the 3D model.

Review process and feedback

The service includes a review run to make any adjustments and corrections. A fee of 49.50€ is charged for additional correction runs. Make sure that all required feedback points are submitted to us as part of this review run to avoid additional costs.

conclusion

By meeting these requirements, you ensure that we can create the 3D model precisely and efficiently from point cloud data. These requirements are crucial to ensure optimum model quality and rapid further processing of your project.
