Requirements for the CAD drawing service “Creating a BIM Model from Point Clouds”
In order to use the CAD drawing service to create a BIM model from point cloud data for your project, a number of requirements must be met. These requirements ensure precise and efficient implementation and help you create an optimal BIM model based on your point cloud data.
point cloud data
To create a detailed BIM model, we need complete and readable point cloud data. This data should cover all relevant building areas, including structural elements such as walls, columns, ceilings, roofs, and other architectural details.
Formats and data structure
Please ensure that the point cloud data is delivered in a common format such as .E57, .LAS, or .PTS. In addition, the data structure should be clearly defined and readable to enable seamless integration into our BIM software (e.g. Revit or ArchiCAD).
Level of detail
Clarify the desired level of detail in advance. By default, we offer modeling at Level of Detail (LOD) 200. If a higher or specific level of detail is required, this should be discussed in advance in order to create an exact and tailor-made BIM model.
Information on specific building elements
If certain building elements such as stairs, dormers or special openings are to be integrated into the BIM model, additional documentation is helpful. In particular for complicated elements such as wall openings, roof windows or curtain walls, we need detailed dimensions or further documentation.
Intended use and model requirements
Define the purpose of the BIM model (e.g. for planning, analysis, or administration purposes) as well as any specific requirements, such as adding dimension chains, area calculations, or special layer assignments. This information helps to optimally tailor the model to your needs.
Additional requirements for add-ons
For optional add-ons, such as the integration of a plan frame with a planhead, furniture or special area calculations (e.g. according to WoFiV), we need precise information so that these add-ons can be smoothly integrated into the model.
Voting and consultation
Have a contact person ready for coordination and any queries regarding the details of the point cloud data set. The quick consultation makes the modeling process easier and minimizes potential delays.
By providing these requirements, you ensure the efficient and precise creation of your BIM model, which provides you with a solid basis for all subsequent steps in the project.
